Since I was a child growing up in Delray Beach, Florida, I’ve been passionate about art and the written word. From an early age I devoured every book I could get my hands on and was rarely found without a sketchbook and pencil nearby. In the seventh grade, an English instructor noticed that my essays seemed to be written by someone far older and more educated than I was at the time. She was the first of a string of inspirational teachers who helped me hone my skills and gave me confidence in my writing abilities. Since then, I’ve eagerly taken on every writing challenge offered to me.
In college I studied English, graphic design and fine art, spending many of my evenings in the library assisting students with term papers and other writing projects. In my third year, the lure of adventure and beautiful natural surroundings sent me on a whirlwind move to Asheville, North Carolina, where I met a pair of small business owners looking for some assistance. Working from their home, I took part in nearly every aspect of the business, from taking orders and helping customers to writing, editing and designing the website content.

In the years that have passed since then, that small home-based business run by a busy mom with two young children has become a successful corporation, and I gained invaluable experience watching it grow and taking an active role in its daily operations. I learned how to write strong copy for a variety of media and objectives, manage web content and design eye-catching web graphics. I also gained insight into all of the marketing that goes on behind the scenes, acquiring skills like search engine optimization and learning how to effectively target your audience. This education in the real world of business gave me an edge that most other copywriters and graphic designers simply don’t have.
